Skylarks hovering high above the fields would have spotted a new, turquoise stream running parallel to the Chelmer and Blackwater navigation. It's two thousand Walkers for Life, enjoying the Spring sunshine and raising money for Farleigh Hospice as they make their way from Heybridge Basin to Wharf Road.

Footnote

Medical footnote: my feet held up remarkably well – walking boots, two layers of sock and surgical spirit. It was the knees and hips that slowed the pace …

Nonetheless, a pleasant stroll, and at least £150 raised for Farleigh. Thanks to the organisers, the stewards and staff, the event sponsors and all those individuals who sponsored us !
