Skylarks hovering high above the fields would have spotted a new, turquoise stream running parallel to the Chelmer and Blackwater navigation. It's two thousand Walkers for Life, enjoying the Spring sunshine and raising money for Farleigh Hospice as they make their way from Heybridge Basin to Wharf Road.

Beeleigh
Off the bus, queue for the portaloo, and finally hit the towpath at 09:55.
Past Tesco's, past the golf course, to Beeleigh Lock and Falls [where the Chelmer joins the canal], the first check point. 10:50.
